Complex or Longstanding Difficulties

Some people come to therapy with difficulties that don't fit neatly into a single category.

This might include longstanding patterns of intense emotion, a complicated relationship with alcohol, food, or other behaviors, or a sense that previous treatment never quite addressed what's really going on.

Rather than starting with a diagnosis or a specific behavior to eliminate, I'm interested in understanding what these patterns have been doing for you, what they help you tolerate, avoid, manage, or protect yourself from.

From there, we can begin to consider different possibilities.

This kind of work often unfolds more slowly, and that's alright. There's no expectation that longstanding patterns should resolve quickly, and no requirement to have things figured out before we start.

We move at a pace that respects how long these patterns have been part of your life.

This work asks for patience and curiosity, and a willingness to look at the whole person rather than reduce someone to a label.

Whatever shape your difficulties take, we can begin there together.

Ready to Talk?

If you've been carrying a sense that something deeper is going on beneath your anxiety, relationships, or self-doubt, you're not wrong—and you don't have to keep carrying it alone.

Reaching out can feel like a big step, especially if you're used to managing things on your own.

I'd welcome the chance to talk with you, hear a little about what's bringing you to therapy, answer any questions you may have, and see whether we might be a good fit.
