Frequently Asked Questions

What is psychodynamic therapy, and how is it different from other approaches?

Psychodynamic therapy looks beyond the immediate symptoms you're experiencing to explore the patterns, relationships, emotions, and assumptions that have shaped you over time. We pay attention to both conscious and less conscious aspects of your experience, including patterns that may be difficult to see on your own. The goal is not simply to manage a particular problem, but to develop a deeper understanding of yourself that can create meaningful and lasting change.

2

Do you accept insurance?

Yes, I accept PacificSource, Providence, Cigna, and Aetna. Private pay is also available for people who prefer to use out-of-network benefits. Reach out and I'm happy to walk through your specific coverage.

3

How long does therapy usually take?

There's no fixed timeline. Psychodynamic work unfolds at a pace shaped by what emerges in therapy rather than a preset number of sessions. Some people notice meaningful changes relatively quickly, while deeper changes in longstanding patterns often develop through sustained work over time.

4

How do virtual sessions work?

Sessions are 55 minutes, held weekly, entirely online through secure video via Zoom for Healthcare.
